Orden Soberana y Militar del Templo de Trono de la Santísima Virgen de Galicia, los emperadores de Oriente y Occidente - Guardianes del Silencio Real

Sovereign Military Order of Temple of Throne Blessed Virgin of Galicia, the Emperors of East and West – Guardians of the Royal Silence

Suresh Kumar Soni: Sound of Silence

We live in a busy world filled with noise and distractions and take silence too lightly. Even if, we live in a noisy world, can we ignore the profound influence of silence and its transformative effects on our mental, emotional, and spiritual states of being?

Silence is not the absence of sound, it’s a state of quietude, which offers a peaceful space, for meditation, introspection, and contemplation. When thoughts calm down, the inner voice is heard, it develops vision, giving room for self-examination, self-reflection, and self-discovery.

By withdrawing from external distractions and engaging in silent contemplation, we can explore our innermost nature, understand our true selves, and gain insight into the purpose of our life.

Silence is a sanctuary to restore mental and emotional balance, allowing us to find clarity in chaos. Inner experience without external influences helps us to expand our consciousness.

Silence is also considered a powerful tool for healing, purification, and rejuvenation. It allows us to let go of negativities, cultivate positive qualities, and awaken dormant potentials.

Silence fosters the art of listening, which is necessary during a conversation, so that others can express themselves freely, leading to more meaningful mutual connection, contact, and communication.

By grounding ourselves in silence, the present moment awareness of the here and now is experienced. Through silence, we are attuned to the subtle nuances of inner and outer reality.

Silence is the ground for creativity to flourish. Writers prefer silence and solitude to spark imagination to unleash their creative spirit.

Silence is associated with spiritual practices to deepen our connection with the inner self. In silence, we can explore our spiritual being, engage in prayer or meditation, and experience a sense of unity with something greater than ourselves, the universal consciousness.

In silence, we can comprehend the non-verbal perspective within and around us. Universal consciousness communicates in silence. Even our own consciousness is felt in silence alone, and the language of silence is wordless.

So, activating bodily sensations like a gut feeling, intuition, instinctive feelings, emotions, thoughts, and intentions, without using words, helps us to know what we long to know, even if, there is no clear or logical, or scientific basis to rely on such vibrations truthfully.

Connecting with the universal consciousness or decoding the mysteries of cosmic consciousness depends on accidental chance, no observation, no detectors, no stimulations, no theories or no experiments work. That’s why, words fail to express the speechless stillness of silence.

By cultivating moments of silence in our lives, we can tap into the endless power of quietude and find our innate wisdom, leading to a more balanced, meaningful, and fulfilling existence.

Various Western philosophers have expressed notable perspectives on silence, highlighting different aspects of its significance in areas, such as self-reflection, aesthetics, and social dynamics.

In Vedic philosophy, silence holds significant importance and is regarded as a profound aspect of spiritual practice and self-realization.

According to the Vedas, silence is the gateway to attaining higher knowledge and wisdom. It is believed that by cultivating inner silence through meditation and contemplation, we can connect with the inherent wisdom that resides within ourselves and in the universe.

Vedic thought emphasizes that the ultimate truth is beyond the realm of words and concepts. Silence is considered a means to transcend the limitations of language and intellectual understanding. It is believed that in the depth of silence, we can directly experience the indefinable reality that underlies all existence.

The Vedic tradition recognizes that the mind is constantly engaged in a ceaseless flow of thoughts, desires, and emotions. Silence is regarded as a state of stillness where the mind becomes calm and tranquil. Through silence, we can observe the mind's activities and gradually transcend them, leading to clarity, peace, and self-awareness.

Vedic texts describe silence as a means to establish a direct connection with the divine or the ultimate reality. It is believed that by entering into deep silence, we can experience a sense of unity, merging with the divine presence and realizing the inherent divinity within ourselves.

Vedic sages visualized that silence can communicate more profoundly than words. Through silence, we can convey deep emotions, understanding, and compassion without relying on verbal language. It is seen as a form of communication that transcends the limitations of ordinary language.

Succinctly put, according to Vedic philosophy. We can embark on a transformative journey toward self-realization, spiritual awakening, and connecting ourselves with the divine.

The sound of silence is conveyed in stillness. The beginning of wisdom is silence, and the next step is, to listen to the voice of silence, and then, we are able to grasp the many-faceted dimensions of truth that lie beyond the definition of words.

In fact, the supremacy of silence over the influence of words is indisputable.

To control and purify the mind, the Indian sages recommend 'Maun Vrat', which means, a vow to keep silent, for our spiritual growth. Even Chanakya Niti states, whoever can remain silent every day for a full year becomes worthy of thousands of years of praise.

Here, I would like to say that Mahavira, one of the founders of Jainism, during his ascetic life, before the attainment of the highest spiritual knowledge, which lasted for more than twelve years, practiced Maunvrat continuously.

The Vedic texts suggest, that we can practice silence, through the control of our speech.

Therefore, the best way to practice silence is by taking a vow of silence - Maunvrat. The benefits of silence are profound, as it improves our psychological and mental health, relieves stress and stimulates the brain cells, etc.

Now, I would like to conclude poetically, by citing an Urdu Sher (couplet)

 हर तरफ शोर की दीवार दिखाई दे है

मेरी आवाज़ कहाँ मुझको सुनाई दे है

(I see a wall of noise everywhere. Alas, I cannot hear my own voice)
