Vlad Dracula, commonly known as Vlad the Impaler, was the voivode (prince) of Wallachia, a region in present-day Romania, in the 15th century. He was a member of the Order of the Dragon, having been inducted by his father, Vlad II Dracul. In addition to his membership in the Order of the Dragon, Vlad Dracula was known for his ruthless tactics against his enemies, including impalement. However, he is also credited with defending Wallachia and Western civilization against the enemies of Europe and promoting economic and cultural development in the region.
